Louisiana Politics: Stormy Daniels Consultant Hit By Car Bomb

Written by: Stephen Sabludowsky

Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

Was it a car bomb or a car just auto exploding on its own?  Are we living in New Orleans or have we reaching the depths of Beirut or Baghdad?

These questions are circulating through the minds of many in the local political world as Brian Welsh, a political consultant, had the unfortunate distinction of discovering that his car blew up yesterday afternoon.  Welsh is currently working with the Stormy Daniels potential campaign against David Vitter for US Senate.  He was also the Communications Director for Walter Boasso’s gubernatorial bid and was the Communications Consultant for Louisiana Victory.

In an ABC26 interview, yesterday, he questioned whether someone was trying to send him a message.  In a radio interview with Jeff Crouere on WGSO 990 this morning and in a conversation with Bayoubuzz this afternoon, Welsh said he was not going to be deterred by the incident.

From a film taken from a camera in the garage where the auto was located, it appears that a man threw an object in his car and then the car exploded.

Some of the cynical are pointing fingers at possible future or past opponents or their associates.  However, it is possible that the incident could have been totally coincidental or have nothing to do with politics, whatsoever.

Welsh is waiting for more forensic information.  He hopes that witnesses might come forward with more details.  He also hopes that the video of the incident would provide more clear and detailed information.

Again, while the unfortunate event could have been performed by a kook with no political connections or inclinations, there is indeed a lesson to be learned by the incident.

Surrounding almost every major candidate or significant elected official this is some type of security.   At the doors of most media outlets in America is super security.  Media outlets are on virtual lockdown.  In contrast, political activists, operatives and consultants generally have little or nothing to protect them from risks.

Yet, we know that the politically inclined are often the victims of arrests or violence in hotspots in this world.

Thus, taking political positions can be a dangerous profession.  This is true whether the office is for the President, Mayor, news analyst, or political activist/consultant.

Those who are more in the position of power or influence generally have greater risks and therefore more substantial security.

The bombing in New Orleans is a reminder.  Politics of any type can be fiery.  If the event yesterday is a product of that phenomenon, it would be absolutely the wrong way to display civic involvement.

Threats might work in Baghdad or Beirut.  We would like to think that New Orleans or Louisiana is not so “third-world” or so chaotic.  Hopefully, only a person that is mentally deranged would get a “blast” out of causing this type of harm and that this was a freak incident, isolated and was not related to Welsh’s or anyone else’s caring about their respective communities.

Well, did any facts ever unfold? . . . .

KJ, that sure was a premature ejaculation you had in your response. Let's just sit back and let the facts unfold. However, I would venture the observation from the sidelines that there is much more to be gained by Stormy's candidacy from this event than by Mr. Vitter's campaign. Free publicity, hype and attention are immediately paid to a political candidate when something like this happens to someone close to them--and Mr. Vitter's last wish would be to call attention to Stormy. So your (knee) jerky reaction is certinly premature at best, and most likely totally misplaced. Could it possibly have been a plant by the publicist or by someone close to him? Probably not, but that hypothesis has at least as much to commend it as yours.

"the unfortunate event could have been performed by a kook with no political connections or inclinations"...and, as the publisher you must cover your arse... but we all know who did it:::: A conservative kook..... Of course it's politically connected--- Stormy Daniels keeps the dirty sex stories in the lime-light for David Vitters' campaign... She's the ONE THING that still could hurt him---Jesus Christ- this is a VISCIOUS and DANGEROUS Republican BASE... they will catch the bomber...and we will get to the bottom of this.... First you HANG the MADAME... then, you BOMB the campaign manager.... David Vitter - you are BAD NEWS.
