Paul's shot wins it
Chris Paul was surprised.
The Rose Garden in Portland was mortified.
All because of when the game was on the line on Monday night, the crowd couldn't understand how Paul could be so wide open for a 16-foot jumper with 3.8 seconds left that beat the Trail Blazers 98-97.
So how did Paul get so open? The Blazers lost track of him when he fell while making a pass to David West on the perimeter. Paul said he expected West to take the shot, but when he realized the forward didn't, he got up and found that guard Andre Miller and left to guard West.
When West passed it back to Paul,Paul said there was only one thing to do -- knock it down. He did.
Paul scored 24 points with 12 assists and 7 rebounds
Earlier on Monday the Hornets traded guard Devin Brown to Chicago for center Aaron Gray to help out with rebounding. Marcus Thornton started in place of Brown and scored 19 points after hitting his first four shots from the field.
The Hornets (24-20) continue their Western tour on Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors.
