In an update Monday, Governor Bobby Jindal stuck a cautionary note concerning the Stimulus bill being considered by the US Senate.
He has been stating that if he were still in the U.S. Congress, he would have also voted no along with his Republican members of the House of Representatives.
Today, he has expressed concerned that the bill would create too much debt for future generations of Americans.
However, instead of supporting or opposing the bill, he is preferring to consider the final version to consider which projects would be funded for Louisiana by the federal money.
In contrast, the National Governor’s Association has gone on record to favor the passage of the legislation
Former Republican Vice President candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Florida Governor Charles Crist have been advocating passage of the legislation.
The bill is being considered by the US Senate this week and final Senate passage will likely occur late this week.
Also on Monday, President Barack Barack Obama send out an email urging passage of the legislation and created a method in which citizens can discuss their concerns regarding the legislation.
Obama said, “The economic crisis is growing more serious every day, and the time for action has come.
Last week, the House of Representatives passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which will jumpstart our economy and put more than 3 million people back to work.
I hope to sign the recovery plan into law in the next few weeks. But I need your help to spread the word and build support.
It's not enough for this bill to simply pass Congress. Americans need to know how it will affect their lives -- they need to know that help is on the way and that this administration is investing in economic growth and stability.
Governor Tim Kaine has agreed to record a video outlining the recovery plan and answering questions about what it means for your community. You can submit your questions online and then invite your friends, family, and neighbors to watch the video with you at an Economic Recovery House Meeting.
Oh right ... the "War on Poverty" (LBJ's "Great Society") has created an ever growing underclass by financially supporting poor lifestyle choices - what a great success that has been!!!!! Soaring crime and illegitimacy, ever more people on welfare, plummeting education levels. Good for creation of a large base of voters who will reliability vote Democrat, not much of a "success story" beyond that though. -kpf Written by you're blind to what "the true story is"

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... The TRUE STORY IS............. Thursday, February 5, 2009, 1:34pm PST - - - - - TARP overpayments total $78 billion - - - - - Sacramento Business Journal- - - - The Treasury Department paid “substantially above” market value for the financial assets purchased through the Troubled Asset Relief Program, according to the TARP oversight panel appointed by Congress……. Elizabeth Warren told the Senate Banking Committee Thursday that Treasury paid $254 billion in 2008 to financial institutions through the TARP program but received only $176 billion worth of stocks and warrants. This estimate was extrapolated from an analysis of 10 transactions, Warren said…….. Congress created the TARP program to thaw frozen credit markets and shore up the U.S. banking system…….. The Treasury Department has failed to explain the reasons for the overpayments, even though some of its announced policy objectives could have led it to pay more than the stocks and warrants were worth at the time, Warren said……….. “Because Treasury has failed to delineate a clear reason for such an overpayment, however, the panel is unable to determine whether these objectives have been met or whether they justified the large subsidy that was created,” Warren said. that Government is always The Problem and can never work to accomplish anything is what Republicans believe in their hearts -- because once they get elected that's exactly what happens, i.e. everything in the government gets horribly screwed up. Written by The true story is

Folks, you all get to suffer under the will of 22+% of the registered voters of Louisiana..... So live with it.... You can take it any way you want, but those are the facts, those are the numbers, and that is what it is..... Not 30%, NOT 40%, not 50%, and CERTTAINLY NOT 51% OR BETTER……….. So live with it.... Go to Wikipedia, look up ‘poster child’…….. If you would like to, you can read little Piyush’s family history in Wikipedia, (Pay attention to the date when mum and dad came to America)……. Then figure in a couple of months for ‘settling down time’ and factor and then you come to the start of the school year…… Then add 9 months to that last point in reference and whalla!!! Little Piyush’s, er, uhhhhh,,, Bobbie’s birthdate!!!!….. To make sure they didn’t have to go back home they did what any common Mexican migrant worker does….. They find a little loophole in the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution……. Go to Wikipedia and look up ‘anchor baby’……. Those first days of school at LSU must have been one big celebration for his mummie and daddie….. humpa-humpa-humpa-haumpa….. , Do you really think he has anything in common with the common people of the State of Louisiana, or that he even cares about them????? Did he ever really mix and mingle with ‘commoners’ as a child? No, He cut his teeth watching reruns of Brady Bunch episodes…. WHAT A LAUGH!!!!! Go to Wikipedia and look up ‘neurosis’… And then consider why little Piyush all of a sudden is now little Bobby……….. And if you think those facts, or truths are mean, then you have some kind of a problem…… Especially when the facts of the matters are, Little Bobby is causing you to do without………… And if you want to try to drag racism into the mix, you are even stupider…. In reality, considering his background and his actually unbelievable achievements that propelled him to the position he currently enjoys, the only thing that would make his story even more incredible is if he had been a test tube baby…… Wut a bunch of dumazzes….. You don’t even see what is going on….. He was groomed, primped, primed and tailored for this role he is now playing…… And there are resources that are attempting to vault him to loftier positions to lord over you and what you are allowed to do or achieve…… You only have to ask yourself one big question; “Who are those groomers, and what do they want”? So where are the other 70 odd percent of the Louisiana voters when their voices are needed to be heard? Wutever…… Because those are the facts, now live with them…. Written by

Government doesn't have to ALWAYS be the problem, this is a choice freely made by our politicians. I reject labels for myself (such as conservative) - I simply want honest government. I've followed politics for many years, honest government - "for the people" government - is something I've never seen implemented. The closer one looks, the more one sees politicians doing first for themselves, secondly for those who contribute money to them, thirdly to their supporters; but politicians who vote and craft legislation based on the principle of "what's best for all" ... I wish I could say this is common .... I really do. I expect the GOP to reward Wall Street, I expect the Democrats to reward thier supporters, I was hoping for something different ("change", fool that I was) from Barak Obama. Written by kpf

one other thing about Jindal. Before he decided to make a career out of being a politician he was working for McKinsey and Co. consultants. He's supposed to be oh-so-smart but somehow he couldn't make it in the private sector. How could that be? Why would that be if he truly believes in all of the conservative doctrine about government always be The Problem and never the solution? Sorry but there's just too much about him that's hollow. I believe that if Jindal did exactly what he's doing now - but was a Democrat - neither Mr. Quidd nor The true story is.... would have anything bad to say about him. "Partianship" - the practical alternative to thinking. I mean really, is there ANYTHING any Democrat has EVER done that was wrong? Was there anything ever that any Republican has EVER done that was right? If you answer "no" and "no" to both of these questions... you just might ... just "maybe" mind you .... have a wee bit of a problem with objectivity. Written by kpf

that Bobby Jindal is overrated. Also, he's not ever going to go against his party's marching orders, good foot soldier that he is. What happened with Louisiana's health ranking when Jindal was in charge of that department in state government? Where is Louisiana's health ranking right now? And this guy is supposed to be The Great Genius? Another issue: after passage of Jindal's baby ethics reform it's harder to convict someone of ethics violations. What kind of "gold standard of ethics" is that? And that's not getting into how much time he spends out of the state on speaking and fund-raising engagements. So take whatever he says with all of that in mind. Written by The true story is...

You may be right. However a bill that leaves one of the chambers of congress will often look quite different after it goes through the other chamber and conference committee. Also, "spending every dollar raised" does not create debt, rather spending MORE dollars than is raised causes debt. The spending bill working is way through congress should not have anything but "economic stimulus" programs. Having needless crap makes it bad for the country, and taxpayers overall in the long run, but the recipients’ of that money (individuals, companies, states) don't consider it to be needless (or - for that matter - crap) at all. "Some" entities always benefit - at least short term - from government spending; that does not necessarily mean this money wouldn't have been better spent by those who had it taken from them (or that the locations where they live wouldn’t have benefited from keeping this money from being spent elsewhere through government action). If Jindal was concerned about the debt on future generations, why has he favored raising the spending cap on State spending and was a part of spending every dollar the State could raise last year. Not to mention trying to keep every dollar by not allowing the tax credit so He could have more to spend.
When Politicians say they want to wait and see the final bill, this is nothing more than a "cop out" to not give an opinion. Written by James

An "Economic Recovery House Meeting" - hold one to discuss with your neighbors how the proposed stimulus plan will help you and your neighbors. Really? I don't suppose this "package" contains any opposing viewpoints? I don't suppose this package encourages any debate on the issue? No, this is an invitation to be a mini-Propagander Minister for those who think they - not the public - know best what to do with the public's money. What's next? Are we going to teach our children to turn in their parents for thought crimes? It's starting to get kind of creepy. Written by kpf
