There is no reason to sugar-coat this disaster. It is obvious to any thinking person that it s worse than is reported. Being a Venice regular, I know how biologically sensitive the area is. If it gets into the stream, it will cause less damage. The Louisiana Delta is vital to America, and I for one would rather clean oil and tar off the beaches than have the nesting and fertile areas of Louisiana damaged, killing millions of many species of birds and fish and wiping out whole industries. Besides, when the millionaires and movie stars and such are threatened in Fla, we'll solve the problem.

The "best case scenario" would be IF BP can stop the well from flowing, and IF the oil stays - mostly - offshore allowing it to be captured; even then, this will be a horrible ecological disaster. Still no need to stop offshore production (that sentiment has nothing to do with my working out here either) or artificially increase the prices consumers pay for hydrocarbon fuel to offset the higher costs of 'alternative' fuels. I feel most sorry for shrimpers and fisherman whose incomes are harmed by this accident.

Just because you don't see the damage doesn't mean it isn't there.

I hope you're right KL; but I fear it may be a case of "it's not that bad - YET."

Oh, Predictor of Doom, nobody takes this oil spill lightly. Truth is- it's not as bad as we thought. If "that much" oil was "gushing" from the ocean-floor the Sea would be bubbling up. (leak is not a gusher- more like a slow leak, but still an environmental disaster, nobody is debating). Big question is---Where did the oil go? Now there's evidence of underwater plumes. Follow that. But, save your crying Wolf.
